After years of working with small business owners across Havelock, New Bern, and Morehead City, one thing became abundantly clear — there are remarkable businesses in this community that most people simply don't know about. Not because the business isn't excellent. Not because the owner isn't working hard. But because nobody ever told their story.

A great pizza place on Neuse Boulevard that's been feeding New Bern families for two decades. A hair salon where clients feel like they belong the moment they walk in. These businesses deserve to be known.

So we did something about it.

New Bern Local is a free community spotlight platform that celebrates the local businesses that make this area worth living in. We hand-select each business, sit down for a real conversation with the owner, and publish a genuine feature article that tells their story — who they are, why they do what they do, and what makes them special to this community.

Here's how it works:

Businesses apply through a short form at NewBernLocal.com. We review each application personally. If selected, we schedule a 30-minute conversation to get to know the business and the people behind it. That conversation becomes the foundation of a feature article published on the site and shared across our social channels.

Featured businesses get real visibility — introduced to the New Bern community through an authentic story, not a paid ad.
